In yet another tragic incident, a young tigress of Kanha national park has been killed in conflict between tigers. Caracass was first spotted by Elephant patrolling party who were on their regular patrolling duty. This incident took place in Mundi Dadar (meadows) Beat Number 119. Commenting on this unfortunate incident, Field Director said that separate teams of Forest Guards started their search for other tiger who might have sustained injuries in the conflict, before killing the tigress. Here it is important to locate that tiger so that medical treatment could be provided to him. Field Director further described that their is no suspicious evidence found in spot investigation thus we can rule out the possibility of poaching activity. A team of Veterinary Doctors, led by Dr. Sandeep Agrawal, conducted the autopsy of the carcass. During this process, NTCA representative was present their. Later carcass was set on fire, as per guidelines of NTCA.

It is the second incident in the same month. Earlier in the beginning of January 2019, we have seen that a tigress of 4 years age, was killed in act of conflict with another tiger. Given incident is similar to that incident and it is possible that their could be link in between these two incidents. Here Forest Department is required to work on the rising incidents of territorial conflicts between tigers, due to increase in their population. It is a matter of concern and thus they must be thinking over this problem and in near future we will see some actions in this regard. Shifting of tigers to another forest area is no the only solution of this problem but increase in prey base and increase in park area is necessary.
